The intent is to drive visitors and residents through the planned development, creating a “mini-downtown” feeling. Retail spaces will further activate the pedestrian circulation around the building. The existing train station will be repurposed, while maintaining its current historical character, into a Visitor’s Center whereby tourists can be connected to destinations within the town and to the east end of Long Island. Provided as part of the redevelopment, drop-off and pickup spaces will be allotted for Hampton Jitney buses, smaller shuttle buses, vineyard tours, bicycle rentals, LIRR ticketing, Light Rail Shuttles to/from Ronkonokoma Station, etc.; all focused on driving tourism in, around, and through Riverhead as the major hub of eastern Long Island.
