SPECTOR’S design charge was a major comprehensive capital improvement program featuring the total façade modernization, new building lobby building entrance experience makeover, new signature entry marquee and a modern art showcase gallery.
To confirm the reimagination of 300 E 42nd and bring the vision to the upper floors, the 12th floor interior was chosen to be pre-built as a showcase of the new fit and finish of the building. Along with the aesthetics upgrades to the 1963 building a total revamping of the entire structures mechanical and elevators systems and platforms.
The finished new stunning black exterior façade, harkens to the return of the modern eras sleek minimalist design character, embracing and celebrating their structures and minimalist geometries, rather than camouflaging them with superfluous ornament and detail. The building now commands your attention along 42nd Street both night and day and strikes an imposing presence that announces that the ‘new’ modern era of architecture has returned to Manhattan once again.
The New Lobby conveys that same simplicity and elegance that is a perfect backdrop to the bold modern art displayed throughout. The 12th floor is cleaned and stripped of what once was, and now offers a ‘loft like’ office design experience, a hip black and white office tuxedo of a space, surrounded with unobstructive views of midtown Manhattan.
