Onondaga County Aquarium

The biosphere forest extends to the upper-level areas dedicated to staff research, teaching, and other functions. This forest, adorned with lush greenery, serves as the primary link connecting all levels of the building.

In the design of the Aquarium, a central Biosphere aviary habitat will be a prominent feature. This aviary will include a shoreline lagoon, as well as a flooded freshwater lagoon ecosystem that showcases the plants and animals native to Onondaga County. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to explore over 60 exhibits scattered throughout the aquarium.
The aquarium journey will be a captivating experience, blending the wonders of nature with scientific exploration. Guests will embark on a unique adventure through a man-made biosphere that encompasses a vast array of flora and fauna from Onondaga County, New York State, and the surrounding ecosystems.

Upon entering the aquarium, visitors will find themselves immersed in a diverse ecosystem. They will walk through a three-level forest walkway, navigating narrow paths shaded by a towering tree with a dense leaf canopy. Along this enchanting pathway, animals will roam freely, and birds will soar overhead, creating a truly immersive and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
