New classrooms and a multipurpose lecture room with sound system accommodate 150 students. Science rooms and a chemical storage room feature flexible laboratory tables with sinks, gas and hoods as required. The athletic field enhancements include a new track and four additional tennis courts.
North Side Elementary
North Side Elementary School maintains a traditional facade of brick and stucco plus classic muntined ornamented windows. There is a traditional cupola on top plus “eyebrow” windows maintaining an air of traditionalism with contemporary accents. A varied roof design conceals the HVAC system from public view and all ductwork is hidden.
The library was renovated to a new Media Center and houses a computer technology learning center, video conferencing classroom and teacher resource room, two small reading rooms and a customized circulation desk. The Media Center is a mix of contemporary design and technology with classical accents. There are six early childhood classrooms, each with their own lavatory and childlike colorful design.
Willets Road Intermediate School
Willets Road Intermediate School received a new gymnasium/auditorium or ‘gymnatorium’, complete with folding partitions, stage, stage lighting and complete sound system. Full audiovisual capabilities are present. The Old Gymnasium conversion into the schools Learning/Media Center features the school’s library, computer labs and teacher resource center. A Distance Learning Room has Internet hookups and the capability of interacting with teachers/classes from abroad.
