Outside, the island boasts its own petite beach, perfect for launching kayaks or enjoying a refreshing swim. Surrounding the main house, you’ll find a blend of meticulously manicured lawns, majestic trees, and tall hedgerows that provide a sanctuary of privacy.
Alongside Rogers Island sits Wheeler Island. This exquisite private island estate is often affectionately dubbed the “Queen of the Thimbles.” The original residence has been replaced by an elegant three-story cedar-shake home spanning 2,462 square feet of luxurious living space. Upon ascending the steps leading to the main house, you’ll find yourself in a spacious family room adorned with a magnificent fireplace. The inviting eat-in country kitchen awaits, along with cozy nooks designed for reading or simply savoring the breathtaking waterfront views. Continuing your ascent, a second floor unveils the master suite and a multitude of bedrooms. Further steps lead to the third floor, where you’ll discover whimsically decorated guest bedrooms, each with its own unique charm.
Of the hundreds of Thimble Islands, about 25 are considered habitable. They are all within three miles of the coastline and are reachable only by boat. Tour boats have taken sightseers among the islands for generations. The islands were named long ago for thimbleberries, or black raspberries, which once grew wild there.
